Place: Nestled under a shady canopy of magnificent jackalberry and sausage trees, across from Mombo on the other side of Chief’s Island, sited in the Okavango Delta’s famed Moremi Game Reserve, lies Little Mombo. This magical camp overlooks a floodplain that is host to an astonishing variety of wildlife.

Wildlife: The sheer abundance of wildlife in the Mombo Traversing Area has accorded it the name “Place of Plenty”. Highlighted by the massive concentrations of plains game, and predators that reside here. These include all the big cats, of which sightings of lions are frequent. Leopards, spotted hyaenas, large herds of buffalos, elephants, giraffes, blue wildebeest, Burchell’s zebras and more abound; while cheetahs, and African wild dogs are being seen more regularly in the area.

Accommodation: Rebuilt in 2018, Little Mombo is a celebration of our conservation purpose. With just four suites, Little Mombo is a smaller, more intimate version of its sister camp. With its own lounge, dining area, kitchen, and boma, it connects to Mombo by elevated wooden walkways. With other facilities such as a Safari Boutique, spa, gym, and lap pool shared with Mombo. Its design expresses unashamed (yet appropriate and sustainable) luxury under canvas, incomparable hospitality, and world-class wildlife encounters.

Purpose: Little Mombo is 100% solar powered, and waste water is treated in an above ground sewage plant. To reduce our use of bottled water, on-site reverse osmosis filtration provides guests with high-quality drinking water. The isolation and sheer diversity of suitable vegetation makes the area ideal for dedicated conservation efforts to ensure the pristine habitats and dense wildlife are preserved for future generations.

Unique Selling Points

  • A sumptuously-appointed camp perfect for sole-use groups, or simply for a more exclusive and intimate atmosphere
  • Found in the Okavango’s premier wildlife viewing area, and due to its prime position just below where the main Okavango River splits into its primary channels, nutrient deposits from the channel make this the most fertile area in the Delta – attracting high concentrations of plains game which means plentiful predator-prey interaction
  • In the summer months, the fertile plains teem with antelopes and their newborns, attracting vast numbers of predators, dominated by the big cats
